Class Descriptions

MUMS 2 BE CLASSES

A one hour pregnancy exercise class that has been carefully designed with the wellbeing of both you and bub in mind.

They are the perfect way to safely maintain fitness and strengthen the body whilst still respecting the changes that accompany pregnancy. Exercise during pregnancy has been shown to reduce the risk of pregnancy-related complications such as gestational diabetes, improve pelvic and lower back pain, lower the risk of labour complications and enhance mood by reducing stress, anxiety and depression.

The classes have a specific focus on the pelvic-floor and lower abdominals. Your pre- exercise assessment includes an individualised real-time ultrasound assessment of these muscles to ensure you are engaging them correctly, as well as a screen of any bladder, bowel and musculoskeletal problems. With a maximum of 8 participants, you can be rest assured that you will receive the upmost care and attention during your pregnancy journey.

MUMS + BUBS CLASSES
Want a safe and effective way to return to exercise after delivery? Then this is the class for you!

Our one hour postnatal exercise classes have been carefully designed to guide women through exercise from 6 weeks to 6 months postnatal.

Bring bub along with you to join in the start of the class, after which they are looked after by our volunteer minder, whilst we pump up the intensity with specific and targeted exercises to improve muscle strength and endurance, increase fitness, facilitate pregnancy weight loss, improve energy and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.

MAT PILATES
Mat Class is a group workout setting, focusing on functional movement exercises with the option to intensify the program by making use of equipment such as light free weights and theraband. All participants follow the same exercise programme (with slight variations offered to cater for higher and lower levels) over a 60 minute class.

The maximum patient to Physiotherapist ratio is 10:1, ensuring safety via close instruction and technique supervision throughout the class, however, there is less of an individualised nature of the workout.

These classes are more suitable for those who are building or maintaining strength and fitness as a way of managing pain or chronic conditions, not those who are recovering post-operatively or are in the midst of managing an acute injury.
